Vision Airlines arrives in Shreveport
Flights as low at $49 to Destin, Florida . . . WHAT? Yep, that’s what I said. Vision Airlines
celebrated today with a ribbon cutting at the Shreveport Regional Airport. The announcement of a low-fare, non-stop jet service to Destin/Fort Walton Beach is quite exciting. I don’t think you can drive to Destin for $49. The new service will begin on April 2, 2011, with rates starting at $89/one way, just in time for summer vacations. (The banner says as low as $49, but I believe the flights out of Shreveport will begin at $89 – still not a bad deal)
Vision Airlines Ribbon Cutting
Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover welcomed Vision Airlines to the community and thanked them for the partnership they have created. Mayor Glover stated “The selection of Shreveport Regional Airport as one of the first focus cities for Vision Airlines’ low-fare service reflects the airline’s confidence in Shreveport-Bossier and the Ark-La-Tex economies”. The addition of this airline will also be vital for our local tourism industry, as it will provide more opportunity for those in Florida to visit Louisiana and get a taste of the cultural flair.
Travelers can expect flights to be offered on Tuesdays and Saturdays, twice a day. And, don’t think you’re going to be in a little puddle-jumper. Oh no, you will be in a 148-seat Boeing 737-400 aircraft. Not bad for 89 bucks. That sounds like a good deal to me. When asked by the media about the possibility of expanded flights to locations such as Los Angeles, Vision Airlines representative stated that conversations have been started and they continue to look for ways to grow Vision Airlines.
It sure makes me want to hop on a jet plane to Florida! For more information about Vision Airlines or to book a flight, you may visit their website at www.visionairlines.com or call 1-877-FLY-A-JET. Tell them you read my blog.
